Smokey quartz
description: LOCALITY: Anderson's Gully, near Mooralla, near Cavandish, Victoria, Australia 2 3/8" tall It is a very high quality piece. It could be argued that the three piece set of two crystals on matrix and the cluster around a matrix are among the finest group of smokey quartz crystals to be removed from Mooralla. They were found by Ian Bruce during a multi week long visit to Mooralla during the early 1990's. His visit was particularly successful because he used heavier duty equipment and dug deeper to recover better pickings from unweathered rhyolite well belong the top soil.
