Orpiment
description: LOCALITY: Java, Indonesia The individual pieces are up to 2 1/2" across When I first saw these pieces, I thought that they were a new variety of died agate. They are in fact alabaster with bands of orpiment and possibly other arsenic bearing sulfides. They are polished by hand in one of the Kapitany work shops in Indonesia. Since learning this, I can no longer ethically buy them or resell them. These pieces cannot be sold regardless of the price that I may be offered to sell them.
