Fluorite on arsenopyrite
description: LOCALITY: Huang Gang Mine, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China 3 1/2" tall Ex Dr Stephen Smale collection This piece was traded from Steve Smale in November 2013 during a visit to Hong Kong. This piece consist of an esthetic, striking, colorless, gemmy fluorite crystal perched on a matrix of lustrous arsenopyrite. The fluorite crystal is a modified octahedron. It displays beveled edges. Another interesting feature of the fluorite is that some of the crystal faces are as lustrous as polished glass and alternate with faces which are slightly frosted. The lustrous faces allow the best appreciation of the gemmy interior of the fluorite crystal.
