Quartz
description: LOCALITY: Anderson's Gully, Mooralla, near Cavendish, Victoria, Australia 1 5/8" tall Tens of thousands of smokey quartz crystals have been removed from this locally famous locality over the years. At Mooralla, quartz crystals occur as phenocrysts in a matrix of fine grained, bright-white rhyolite. The best specimens are found well below the topsoil where the rhyolite is least weathered. This is a relatively fine miniature but much more common than the other Mooralla quartz specimens that appear in this album.
