Smokey quartz
description: LOCALITY: Anderson's Gully, Mooralla, Victoria, Australia 5 1/2" across In tact geodes at Mooralla are relatively uncommon since most of them are destroyed during excavation and because much of the banded rhyolite at Mooralla is heavily weathered. Geodes with two or more crystals are very rare. This piece is the largest from Mooralla that the author has encountered. He hand excavated thousands of way inferior specimens during the late 1980's and mid 1990's.
