Adamite crystals - to 1 1/3" long
description:
LOCALITY: Mina Ojuela, Mapimi, Durango, Mexico

The whole specimen is 3" across

This piece is significant since it displays crystals which are enormous for the species. The crystals exhibit the luster of polished glass, are razor sharp, translucent and their morphology is easy to observe from this specimen since the crystals are separated from each other instead of intergrown into a "tight" crystal aggregate. The dark matrix of limonitic gossan contrast with the adamite crystals in terms of both color and texture.

This piece was traded from Robert Lavinsky in 2010.

Photo by Matthew Webb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
