description:
LOCALITY: Judith Lynn Claim (T & G Prospect), Pine Canyon deposit, West Burro Mountains, Grant County, New Mexico, United States

4" across

This piece is easily recognizable and could only be from one locality that is so well known for its deep purple octahedral fluorite crystals. To add interest, this specimen also shows another generation of colorless, cubic fluorite crystals.

This piece was formerly in the collection of Robert Sielecki of Melbourne. He bought it from a hotel room vendor who had a Tucson hotel room ful of New Mexican fluorite specimens in the late 1980's. I bought this piece from Robert at the Tucson Gem and Mineral Society Show in 2006.

Photo by Jeff Scovil of Phoenix, Arizona, United States
