description:
LOCALITY: Cave in Rock, Illinois, United States

2 7/8" tall

Ex California Academy of Sciences Collection

This piece consist of a fine quality, well defined, lustrous, mushroom shaped, pale-yellow witherite crystal aggregate with a gemmy, lustrous, sharp, pale-blue fluorite cube attached to it.

The composition of this piece is appealing since the contrasts in color, luster and texture between the witherite and the fluorite is pleasing. The fluorite and witherite are also in desirable proportions to each other.

This piece was traded from Robert Lavinsky in 2012 during a visit to his Dallas warehouse.

Photo by Matthew Webb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
