Anglesite, Broken Hill, Australia

Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia produced a small number of small yellow anglesite crystals on a matrix of limonitic gossan during its early mining history. The author imported this piece from the United States. The best specimen of yellow anglesite known to the Author is pictured in "Minerals of Broken Hill" (published in 1984) and is in the Geosciences Australia collection in Canberra. All of the other specimens of yellow anglesite that the author has seen only had crystals of about this size and all were in or imported from suppliers in the United States.
