Fluorapophyllite & calcite, Jalgaon, India
description: 5 1/4" ac The matrix is covered by colorless, frosted, double terminated calcite crystals of relatively unusual morphology for their locality. Some pale pink crystals of stilbite are also present. A single terminated, pale green, razor sharp crystal of fluorapophyllite dominates the esthetics of this specimen. The matrix is shaped like a cereal bowel. This is not surprising considering that fine specimens of the Deccan traps are removed from hard rock by artisan miners using only hammer and chisel.
