Fluorite, Elmwood Mine, nr Carthage, Smith County
description: 6" across This piece was also mined in the 1980's. The fluorite crystals are pristine aside from eye visible damage on the top left-hand corner of the largest crystal. This damage has minimal impact on display when the piece is vertically mounted with the somewhat damaged corner of the fluorite crystal pointing downwards. A desirable trait possessed by this generally high quality piece is the contrast between the reflective black crystallized sphalerite matrix and the transparent, mauve-purple, lustrous cubic crystal of fluorite.
