Azurite on malachite

LOCALITY: Milpillas Mine, near Cananea, Sonora Province, Mexico

1 1/2" across

Ex Frederic Escaut collection

It is illustrated in "The Mineralogical Record", Volume 39, Number 6, page 30, figure 9. It is also illustrated in at least one other edition of MR.

The piece is a pristine small miniature and is the finest quality that one could imagine for this species. Although small, it is an elite azurite specimen from what may be the world's best locality for this popular species.

I bought this piece from Dan and Diana Weinrich via their website in mid 2009.
