description:
LOCALITY: Milpillas Mine, near Cananea, Sonora province, Mexico

5" across

The appealing traits of this azurite specimen are the color, luster, general esthetics and a crystal habit that is different from all of the other azurite specimens in the world famous Matthew Webb mineral specimen collection.

Unfortunately, there is some minor edge wear on some of the crystals. The azurite crystals that extend to the periphery of this piece are also damaged. Many "new" collectors are more critical of this affliction than "old collectors" including myself. In my view, the "new" collectors have got the right idea on the periphery of a mineral specimen also being perfect. A perfect periphery of a mineral specimen is somewhat analogous to a beautiful frame around an expensive and rare painting.
