description:
LOCALITY: Sepon Mine, Laos

2" across

This photo is unedited and was taken with an iPhone6 camera. It is a wonderful specimen from what is arguably the top azurite locality on the planet. Since specimen destruction was so widespread at this isolated mine, its richness as an azurite producer is not that evident based on the availability of specimens on the retail mineral specimen market.

The main flaws with this photo are the little white spots on the faces of the azurite crystals. These white spots cannot be seen by the naked eye and may in fact result from reflection of light by internal flaws that are close to the crystal faces.

Photo by Matthew Webb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
