description:
LOCALITY: Sepon Mine, Laos

3" across

This piece was acquired from a primary source supplier in mid 2013. This piece in fact consist of a cluster of malachite pseudomorphs after azurite with a partial veneer of azurite. Hence, this piece consist of partial malachite pseudomorphs after azurite. This piece is "electric blue" because incident light passes through the very thin azurite veneer before being reflected back through the veneer by the surface of the chatoyant faces of the malachite pseudomorphs after azuite. This piece is much finer than average.

Photo by Matthew Webb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

This piece will be rephotographed. The present photo is afflicted by tiny "white spots" on crystal faces. Two tiny fibers are also present and the color in the photo is much less vibrant than "in person."

Photograph by Matthew Webb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
