Boleite, Baja California Sur, Mexico; 3" across

Boleite is a rare mineral species that reached its ultimate development at The Amelia Mine, near Santa Rosalia, Baja California Sur, Mexico.  Most specimens of boleite in modern collections were mined during the 1970's.  Unlike almost all Mexican boleite specimens, my specimen is NOT manufactured since the crystals are partly embedded in a hard rock matrix.  Most Mexican boleite specimens consist of crystals that were pressed into soft clay which was then allowed to dry, harden and somewhat resemble a rock matrix.
