Amethyst, Wyloo Station, Western Australia
description: 4" ac Wyloo Station is an isolated locality in the far north of Western Australia (state). A lot of amethyst specimens were removed from Wyloo during the 1980's. Unlike my elite specimen of Wyloo amethyst, almost all of the others were only damaged single crystals which were virtually black instead of purple. My pictured specimen is superior because: (a) It is in good condition. (b) The amethyst is a pleasing shade of purple. (c) The crystal faces are lustrous instead of dull. (d) It is an esthetically appealing crystal cluster instead of being just a single with obvious contacting on most of its side faces.
