Cavansite on stilbite

LOCALITY: Wagholi Quarries, near Mumbai, India

5 1/2" tall

Around 5000 cavansite specimens are mined from the Wagholi quarries annually. Cavansite occurs in these quarries because the basalt is vanadium rich. This piece is a distinctive specimen and is better than tens of thousands of other cavansite specimens.

I bought this fine piece from Stuart Wilensky in mid 2009.
