description:
LOCALITY: Fujian Province, China

5 1/2" across

This crystallized specimen of fluorite glows bright green when back lit. It is the only specimen of its type that I have seen from China. It is crystallized on the back also and is hence a "floater." This piece consist of a group of five intergrown fluorite octahedrons that appear to be built from "brick walls" of small cubic fluorite crystals. This photo does not depict this trait clearly.

I bought this piece from Robert Lavinsky in mid 2009 via his website.

Photo by Matthew Webb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

This photo was taken in late 2012 with an iPhone4 camera and edited in early 2017. The specimen was frontlit. The color saturation depicted in this photo is too strong but of the three photos in this album, this one gives the best depiction of the myriad of crystal faces and sharp crystal edges and vertices on the display face of this fine fluorite specimen.
