Chrysocolla after azurite with wulfenite
description:
LOCALITY: Whim Well Mine, Whim Creek, Western Australia (state)

5 1/2" across

This specimen in fact consist of chrysocolla pseudomorphs after malachite pseudomorphs after azurite crystals with minor wulfenite. This type of double pseudomorph with its "signature" mineral species combination only occurred at Whim Creek. This remote mining property is no longer mined. This is one of the finest and largest Whim Creek specimens in existence and is better than literally thousands of others that were removed from Whim Creek mainly in the 1980's.

Photo by Matthew Webb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
