Copper, Bisbee, Arizona; 3" Tall

Bisbee, Cochise County, Arizona in the United States is a giant polymetallic deposit that was mined since the 1880's. Several mines operated at Bisbee. Phelps Dodge mined Bisbee from the early years of its history and its success on this field allow led to Phelps Dodge being an international company and the world's largest wholesaler of copper cathode. Phelps Dodge is now part of Freeport McMoran as a result of a merger.

This native copper specimen is from Bisbee and consist of a cluster of spinel law twinned native copper crystals with a desirable original patina. Native copper occurs in the the oxidised zone at Bisbee and many other copper mines
