Ferroaxinite, Puiva, Polar Urals, Russia

Puiva produced some of the world's greatest ferroaxinite specimens. A small number of fine pieces appeared for the first time at international mineral shows during a narrow window during the early 1990's. This piece is among the best of species. The largest crystal is 4" long. The piece was formerly in the collections of Joseph Freilich and Professor Stephen Smale. It was pictured in the Sotheby's catalog for the sale of the Freilich mineral collection in early 2001.
