Spessartine on quartz, Minas Gerais, Brazil
description: T 2 1/2" ac Although I have seen much larger specimens of spessartine from this locality, this is more desirable than many of the larger ones for the following reasons: (a) It is gem quality. Most other specimens from this locality are opaque. (b) It is completely free of damage on both sides. Many other pieces from this locality are damaged. (c) It is colorful. Many other pieces from this locality are so dark that they are almost black. (d) The luster is high. Most other specimens from this locality are not as lustrous.
