Spessartine, Loliondo, Tanzania
description: 3 1/4" ac The crystal of orange spessartine is perched on a well proportioned rock matrix. The crystal contains an internal veil that seems to extent to one of the crystal faces. Hence, it may be possible to remove the veil by filling it with an acrylic sealer under a vacuum. This job is one I may delegate to a professional to mineral specimen preparation. The above mentioned practice of veil filling is commonly applied to gem crystals. The unethical failure of some dealers who do not disclose such specimen enhancement to their clients is also a common practice. This is especially so since enhancement of a gem crystal by veil filling is difficult or can be practically impossible to detect.
