description:
LOCALITY: Kertsch, Crimea Peninsula, Ukraine

5" tall

It may be the best example of this species in existence. It was traded from the collection of Robert Sielecki of Melbourne during May 2014. I first saw the piece in Robert's hands in 1994 shortly after he first acquired it. I wanted to own the piece from the moment I saw it but as a young collector, in 1994, I simply could not afford to buy such a fine mineral specimen and it also was not for sale. I am still recovering from the shock of finally owning one of the world's great mineral specimens since it is something that I have lusted after for the past 20 years or so.

I believe that Kertsch no longer produces anapaite. The area where this mineral was mined is also now part of a war zone.

I traded this piece from Robert Sielecki in 2014.

Photo by Matthew Webb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
