description:
1 1/4" tall

LOCALITY: Kuruman, Northern Cape Province, South Africa (TUC)

The white calcite crystal aggregate attached to the side of the jouravskite (identity still to be confirmed) crystal is as lustrous as polished glass, pearly white and translucent. Importantly, the piece that this caption refers to has not been oiled or had its color artificially enhanced. It has been out of the ground and in contact with the atmosphere for over five years.

This piece was bought from Luka Berkovic of Johannesburg, South Africa. The piece was scouted in late 2009, paid for in late 2010 and after not being mailed to me, was collected from Berokovic during my visit to his home in April 2012.

Photo by Matthew Webb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
