Kunzite, Afghanistan; 4 1/2" long

Kunzite is the purple or lilac variety of spodumene. Kunzite was first recorded from the gem pegmatites of southern California and only became new to gemmology in 1902. More recently, Afghanistan became an important source of fine Kunzite crystals. This one stands out from thousands of other Afghan Kunzite crystals because a helix shaped inclusion runs along the entire length of the crystal.
