Azurite and malachite
description:
LOCALITY: Sepon Mine, Laos

2" across

This esthetic specimen of azurite with malachite resembles a lady's dress broach. This piece is more two dimensional in shape than the other Sepon Mine azurite specimens displayed in this album.

The azurite crystals that mainly comprise this piece are wafer thin and glow the most vivid neon-blue when this superb piece is back lit. The flat, wafer thin azurite crystals are also partly covered by acicular malachite crystals. These will shimmer and sparkle more under incident light when the iron oxide and mud stains on the malachite are removed.

I acquired this piece from a primary source supplier in mid 2013.

Photo by Matthew Webb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

This piece must be rephotographed
