description:
LOCALITY: Grand Reef Mine, Arizona, United States

1 7/8" across

The quartz matrix contains a cavity lined with microscopic drusy quartz crystals. The cavity is traversed by a "window pane" of neon-blue linarite. This high quality representative piece is from one of the world's most famous linarite producing localities. More can be read about The Grand Reef Mine and the linarite it produced in "Collecting Arizona" (Published by Lithographie in 2012 and Edited by Professor Terry Wallace).

Another linarite filled cavity is also present on the reverse side of this piece.

This piece was traded from Evan Jones during a visit to Arizona in late 2012.

Photo by Matthew Webb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
