Manganpyrosmalite, ZC Mine, Broken Hill, NSW
description: This specimen is illustrated in an inferior quality photo on page 179 of this book. The caption purports the specimen to be only 4.5 cm across. It is in fact 5.5 cm across. Unlike Dr Bill Birch (Editor), I actually personally handle, measure and own any mineral specimen that I publish matter about on this website so anything that I report is indeed accurate. In 1999, this specimen was owned by Allan Blakewell of Broken Hill. He sold the piece to Cyril Kovacic of Melbourne. I bought the specimen from Mr Kovacic in mid 2009. It is one of the top ten pieces in the collection.
