Malachite on dioptase #5
description:
LOCALITY: Katanga Province, Democratic Republic of the Congo

4" tall

This is a rare combination specimen which consist of a large group of primary malachite crystals on a druse of highly lustrous but small dioptase crystals.

This piece still needs preparation work to remove dioptase shards on the surface of the malachite "pine cone". The combination of the two species is the main point of this specimen. It is the best example of this mineral combination that I have seen.

I cannot remember who I bought this piece from or when I bought it.

Photo by Matthew Webb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
