description:
LOCALITY: Biggenden Mine, Biggenden, Queensland, Australia

The Biggenden Mine produced some of the finest examples of crystallized bismuthinite in existence. Although not as fine as the elite bismuthinite that I traded out to Stuart Wilensky in March 2012, the Museum of Victoria bismuthinite specimen is important because it is large and the bismuthinite crystals are on a rock matrix. This trait is uncommon. Most bismuthinite specimens from Biggenden have been etched out of calcite.

Photo by Matthew Webb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
