Molybdenite

LOCALITY: Wolfram Camp, Queensland, Australia

2 1/2" across

This is one of the finest specimens of molybdenite in existence and may be the finest known small cabinet sized specimen. Molybdenite crystals are relatively rare. Sharp molybdenite crystals are probably over 1000 times rarer. This is one of only three sharply crystallized molybdenite specimens that the author has seen in over 25 years of collecting.

This piece was bought from Alan Watson from the Cairns area, Queensland, Australia in early 2015.
