Azurite
description:
LOCALITY: Burra, South Australia (state), Australia

2" across

This piece was mined during the 1980's. It is one of the finest azurite specimens mined in this era from Burra. The fine Burra azurite specimen would not be out of place in the display collection of "The South Australian Museum", Adelaide. The photo shows how the wafer thin crystals of this Burra azurite specimen transmit incident light to the white background. Hence, the fine specimen of Burra azurite could be rightly described as "neon blue" or "electric blue."

This piece was bought from Kym Lochel during a visit to his home in Mannum, South Australia in mid 2015.

This piece must be cleaned before it is rephotographed.

Photo by Matthew Webb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
