Other Copper Bearing Mineral Species

Azurite and malachite are the two most widely recognized and collected copper bearing mineral species. There are 557 other copper containing mineral species. This gallery only presents 31 of them.  Two popular copper bearing mineral species presented in this album are dioptase and cuprite and great examples of both command six figured prices on the private collector market. Copper commonly occurs with other metals including silver, lead, zinc, gold, cobalt, uranium, antimony and arsenic and the diversity of copper containing mineral species is a reflection of the fact that copper often occurs in polymetallic deposits.  There is no doubt that a collection that is copper focused will always be interesting, colorful and a treat to build.  The Webb collection definitely has a bias towards the color of copper minerals!
