description:
LOCALITY: Shi Lu Mine, Guangdong Province, China

3" tall

Several hundred specimens from this locality appeared on the international mineral market during the late 1980's. This piece shows the most intense blue and has the highest luster that I have seen on azurite from Shilee. I have seen cabinet specimens of Shilee azurite which lacked luster and the owners wanted five figured priced for some of them. I prefer my smaller, finer, sharper and brighter specimen that did not cost me over $10,000.

This piece was bought from Robert Sielecki during a visit to "Crystal Universe", Port Melbourne. I cannot remember the year that I bought this piece.

Photo by Matthew Webb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
