Smithsonite and cerussite on mimetite
description:
LOCALITY: Tsumeb, Namibia

4" across

The grass-green, rounded, double terminated crystals of smithsonite are on a heavy matrix of straw-yellow mimetite. A gemmy, lustrous sixling of cerussite is present in the left hand corner of the smithsonite druse.

I find this piece very attractive. I have a special fondness of green minerals and green smithsonite in particular.

I traded this piece from Robert Lavinsky in 2010. It was traded out to Ian Bruce on 4th December 2015 when he visited me in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

Photo by Matthew Webb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
