Scapolite crystal

LOCALITY: Morogoro, Tanzania

1 3/4" long

Some of the world's finest specimens of golden scapolite are from northern Tanzania and this is a fine example. Most of the crystal is facet quality although there are internal veils that mainly extend to the surface. Most of the crystal faces are as lustrous as polished glass. The termination is sharp and well defined. There is a small and shallow concoidal fracture (as seen in the photo) near the termination. This piece is much more impressive "in person".

This piece was bought from Mike Keim via his website in October 2015.
