Scheelite with adularia

LOCALITY: Ping Wu County, Sichuan Province, China

2 1/2" across

The crystal of scheelite displays a resinous luster. It is mainly translucent with a hint of transparency around the crystal faces. All of the edges and vertices of the scheelite are sharp and pristine. A feature that sets this specimen apart from other Ping Wu scheelite specimens is the associated orthoclase crystal. This piece is one of only three specimens that I have seen that exhibit this mineral species combination.

This piece was traded from Kevin Ward via the mail in 2013.
