Fluorite, Elmwood Mine, nr Carthage, Smith County
description: 6" ac This piece was mined during the 1980's when mineral specimen production at the Elmwood Mine was at its peak. The fluorite crystals are pristine aside from minor eye visible damage on the top left-hand corner of the largest crystal. This damage has minimal impact on display when the piece is vertically mounted with the somewhat damaged corner of the fluorite crystal pointing downwards. A desirable trait of this piece is the contrast between the reflective black crystallized sphalerite matrix and the transparent, mauve-purple, lustrous cubic crystal of fluorite.
