Calcite, Red Dome Mine, Chillagoe, QLD, Australia
description: 3" tall. It is probably the best Australian calcite specimen in existence and would be in place as part of any world class calcite collection. I bought it from a Chillagoe miner in 1997 during my first visit to northern Queensland. The journey included visits to Chillagoe, Atherton, Cairnes, Port Douglas and Mareeba. The specimen is three dimensional and a trivial amount of damage could be removed or made less obvious by a professional mineral specimen preparator (although the piece is fine "as is").
