Tourmaline on morganite
description:
LOCALITY: Pederneira Mine, Minas Gerais, Brazil

This fine piece was formerly owned by Marcus Budil and Daniel Trincillo. They both marketed Pederneira pieces that they sourced directly from the mine at around the turn of this century. Stuart Wilensky acquired it from them and was in possession of this piece in mid 2002 when he showed it to me. Sandor Fuss then acquired it from Stuart. Sandor traded it out to Robert Lavinsky and he re-traded it out to me in late 2004. In 2009 or 2010, I re-traded this piece back to Robert Lavinsky. In the re-trade, I acquired a large blue topaz crystal floater from Virgem da Lapa (still in MW collection), the Chinese stibnite crystal cluster pictured in Steve Smale's "Beauty in Natural Crystals" (still in collection) and a wonderful Panasqueira apatite (later traded out of the collection). Robert Lavinsky since sold this piece to a private collector.

This piece was also pictured in "The Pederneira Mine" special issue of "The Mineralogical Record." It is presently in the collection of Robert Lavinsky.
