Tourmaline, Paprok, Afghanistan; 3" tall

Paprok, Afghanistan is one of the world's most inhospitable mineral specimen localities. It is above the snowline and field collecting at this remote locality is only possible during summer. Tourmaline crystals at Paprok are liberated from hard rock pegmatite using hammer and chisel. This fine crystal possesses a termination that is razor sharp and as lustrous as polished glass.
