Uvite as it appeared in Sotheby's catalog
description:
This piece did not sell at the Sotheby's auction despite being one of the world's finest specimens of green uvite. The uvite crystals appeared brownish green in the Sotheby's catalog photo instead of the attractive green in my photo - which is much more true to life. The Sotheby's photo included the uvite specimen in a group and made it appear cheap. The Sotheby's photographers forgot that this long specimen needed a vertical mount instead of the unsightly horizontal mount seen in the Sotheby's photo. Given the flaws of Sotheby's photography of this specimen, it appeared unattractive and hence did not sell at the auction of January 2001.
